A slightly gory comedy set in 19th-century England. It follows the complicated relationship between Olivier, a vampire, arrogant, but affectionate Earl, and Eli, a somewhat dim-witted and troubled servant who looks younger than his age, as well as the antics of the Earl's family members surrounding them. There is occasional gore and gruesome depictions. Volume 1 compiles episodes 1-5, which are about Eli running away from home, and includes extra stories and bonus comics, making it a substantial read. Eli is picked up in London and becomes Olivier's servant, while Olivier treats Eli more like a lover than a servant, and there is the Earl's sister Scarlett and the Earl's friend, Dr. Victor. Amidst these various characters with their own agendas, Eli, who doesn't quite understand his own place in the world, is tossed about.
