Tomitsu High School freshman Mononobe Fumika was looking for an extracurricular activity to join since it is an academic requirement. She randomly finds a very curious sounding club named the Ranobe, short for light novel. It's a small club headed by Asaba Misaki with 2 other members, Takeda Ryunosuke and Fujikura Koyomi. Fumika was never a big reader but these easy to read light novels really bring her into the world of story telling. (Source: MangaHelpers)

Recent high school transfer student Hasegawa Kodaka is pathetically inept at making friends. Kodaka is an outcast, with his natural blonde hair which he inherited from his deceased English mother, and his unpleasant, fierce gaze. When he comes across the brash loner Mikazuki Yozora, who typically chats with her imaginary friend, the two outsiders become the unlikeliest of allies. Realizing that they have no hope of a normal social life, the two rejects decide to form a group called “The Neighbors Club” in order to make friends and maybe even learn a thing or two about social skills. As luck would have it, five new members join the club who are more socially awkward than they are. Will these quirky misfits ever make normal friends, or are they all doomed to social failure? *The successor of Shobon, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Hiyori is a collection of oneshots about the Neighbor's Club's activities.* Through their adventures and misadventures, the Neighbors Club has become a tight-knit group of… what’s that word? People who hang out together, laugh and cry together, bond over their own ridiculous in-jokes, squabble, and plan nonevents. Not “friends” if these misfits could make friends, why would they be in the club in the first place? Or so they think! It seems outsiders may see things very differently. With no normal friends in sight, the club members continue to band together for both special and mundane occasions, whether it’s choosing Halloween costumes, making the first shrine visit of the new year, helping each other find work, or simply trying to recruit new members. There could even be a duel or two in store with this bunch, anything can happen! (Source: Seven Seas Entertainment)
Due to various "reasons" having to leave his parents and living alone, is Kirimura Seiji. With his classmates and a very beautiful bishoujo named Fuyuki Youko (a forceful girl which actually wants the Kirimura Seiji for herself), he barely manages to pass through "normally" each day. Until one day, falling out of the sky, is a girl wearing gothic attire. This cute little girl is called Yuu, and she claims to be a vampire. Her appearance is due to the fact that she is searching for her thousand year old reincarnated lover. Originally he thought that she was raving mad, but never in his farfetched dreams would he have expected to find a Rabbit butler (Sekitoku) and a Steel Maid-en (Koshizu) (a combination android/maid) would appear to retrieve her (Yuu the vampire) home. With these new arrivals, Kirimura Seiji's daily "normal" life is over, and triggers the beginning of his "very abnormal, love life".

A "what if" alternative version of the original story, on which the cast gets acquainted in a different manner. The basic premise is that Kodaka, a rude looking and easily misunderstood transfer student catches a glimpse from a conversation between Sena (the most popular girl on school) and "her friend" Renka (a character from a visual novel); after a short discussion followed, Sena decides to give it a try and make some friends with Kodaka's help. This is a tweak from the original premise, on which Kodaka catches Yozora speaking to her "air friend", and is Yozora the one who decides to start practicing how to make friends with Kodaka's help.
