Kusa, a university student, finds a discarded Japanese doll named Neko. The doll talks, laughs, cries, and sulks just like a human child. Its favorite food is mirinboshi (sweet rice cake). Kusa and the difficult doll often fight, but they eventually bond and form a better relationship. This is a coming-of-age (?) story about the daily life and romance of Kusa, a university student, as seen through Neko's eyes. Scenes such as Kusa explaining life and death to Neko are beautifully presented. (Source: Shueisha, translated)
