The original RPG replay trilogy was published in Comptiq magazine between 1986 and 1989 under the title *D&D Magazine Live Record of Lodoss War Replay* and is the basis for the main Record of Lodoss War novel series. Every arc primarily follows a new group. Parn's party, Orson´s party and lastly Spark´s party. Rules from Dungeons & Dragons, RuneQuest and Tunnels & Trolls were used due to predating Group SNE´s various RPG rulesets. The three RPG replays were adapted into three light novel format publications by Kadokawa Sneaker between 1989 and 1991 with some differences and a changed ruleset. A fourth RPG replay about Spark´s party was published in 1998 as a mini light novel. A fifth RPG replay, featuring a new cast, was published in 2020. First Series: RPG Replay Vol 1-3 (1989 - 1991) Second Series: Spark, the Heroic Knight (1998) Plot by Ryo Mizuno, illustrations by Yutaka Izubuchi. Third Series: The Wandering Nobleman’s Endless Journey Home (2020) Plot by Takeo Sugiura, illustrations by Retsu Tateo.
The “Kojiki”, which was written about 1300 years ago, is Japan's oldest history chronicle. Written to legitimize the idea of the Emperor's divine descent it contains Japanese myths and historical legends. This manga mainly covers the tales of deities from the first volume, which tells the stories from the creation of heaven and earth to the birth of the legendary founding Emperor of Japan, Jinmu, as well as the legend of Yamato Takeru No Mikoto, which is originally included in the second volume.
