Unshackled Heart

Emperor Yul of the Yuan Empire falls for the ethereal Hwi-eon after spotting him bathing in moonlight. Bringing him to the palace as his consort, their passionate romance blooms until Yul becomes pregnant—but Hwi-eon's cold reaction creates a rift between them. When the empress exposes Hwi-eon's hidden past, the furious emperor imprisons his lover. After giving birth alone, Yul seeks reconciliation, but Hwi-eon has already escaped. During their tumultuous reunion, rebels attack the palace, leaving Hwi-eon critically wounded.

Only then does Yul realize his true feelings. Through devoted care and sleepless vigils, he nurses Hwi-eon back to health. Exhausted from worry, the emperor falls asleep by his bedside—and awakens to find his beloved smiling back at him, finally recovered.
