What if Yi Sun-Sin hadn’t died at the Battle of Noryang? Yi Sun-Sin is struck by enemy fire and falls during the Battle of Noryang, but after a series of twists and turns, he miraculously survives, and the seven-year Imjin War finally comes to an end. However, King Seon-Jo begins to feel pathological jealousy and extreme pressure toward Yi Sun-Sin, who has led the nation to victory in the war and emerged as a hero of the people. Eventually, King Seon-Jo colludes with key figures of the Seoin (Westerners) faction to secretly arrest Yi Sun-Sin, frame him as a traitor, and sentence him to capital punishment. The male members of Yi Sun-Sin’s family are either executed or exiled, while all the women are taken as government slaves and meet tragic fates. In the end, Yi Sun-Sin is secretly executed by being torn apart by horses (cheolyeol) within the abandoned palace, and even his remains are burned, leaving no trace. However, surprisingly, Yi Sun-Sin unexpectedly finds himself transported back to his youth, some 30 years earlier. From that day forward, Yi Sun-Sin devises a grand plan to stop the Japanese invaders who ravaged Joseon and massacred its people, to exact retribution on his future ancestors who had exterminated him and his family, and to conquer Japan, the Jurchen, and China and he begins to methodically put this plan into action.
