Escape (Palmistry)

In the distant future after the apocalypse, a husband who went 'out' to check basement 13's traps died. Adele read and reread the obituary in the newspaper. The specialists said that Damien had been taken by 'them' when they belatedly went to retrieve him and only found Damien's left arm. "As long as you don't throw me away, I will never leave you." But Damien can't be dead. That's what people who don't know him would say. He'd never leave her. Adele, who was in denial, discovered a single clue. A book titled 'One'. Maybe Damien is still alive.
