In an orphanage in Luxembourg, young Mario is forced to do harsh labor every day. His only joy is carving. However, his precious carving tools, along with the piece he intended to submit to a competition, are burned by the orphanage director. It is his blind best friend, Pot-au-feu, who lifts Mario's spirits. Using shards of glass as carving tools, Mario carves life into pieces of wood...!
