MangaBaka data is always free for personal and non-commercial use under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. No sign-up, no payment — just attribute MangaBaka and you're good.
If you're using our data commercially, we keep it simple: pay what you can. We suggest around 2% of your monthly revenue, but it's your call.
All payments go through OpenCollective, where every transaction is publicly visible. Revenue funds hosting, infrastructure, development, and data moderation — you can see exactly where the money goes on our finances page.

How pricing works
We suggest around 2% of your gross monthly revenue as a contribution — but it's your call. The suggestion table is a guideline, not a requirement. Pay what feels fair for the value you're getting.
Pricing is based on your total gross revenue, not API usage. We don't penalize heavy non-commercial use, and you don't need to worry about per-request costs. The goal is sustainability, not profit extraction.
Special cases
- Non-commercial use — Always free. Personal projects, open source, academic research, and anything under $150/mo revenue. Just follow the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license and attribute MangaBaka.
- Third-party sources (AniList, MAL, etc.) — covered by the reciprocal clause. Free up to $10,000/mo revenue.
- Non-profits — Non-commercial use applies regardless of revenue, provided the use is genuinely non-commercial.
- Commercial AI/ML training — Personal tinkering and research is fine. Commercial use of models trained on MangaBaka data must be negotiated separately at Partner level.
