After waking up from sleep, Ji Que finds himself in a bizarre, god-haunted world where immortal mountains have collapsed, temples lie in ruins, monsters wear human skins, and wild gods feast on marrow. At the same time, he gains a unique ability: insight can be accumulated and spent like money—the more he saves up, the more miraculous the revelations he can unlock.

Dragged into a series of grotesque and surreal events, Ji Que encounters a White-Bone Bodhisattva who spews lotus flowers to “purify” all things, and later Laojun, who refines hearts and concocts pills. Yet beneath the rampant demons and monsters lurks something even more terrifying—the human heart itself.
