Sumire Hoshino, a high school student who belongs to the newspaper club, covers the everyday and the extraordinary!
Centers around the titular character, a small boy who gets into different situations with those around him. Each strip is done in four vertical panels in two rows (eight panels in all), read from right to left. The presence of Akatsuka's "Star System" concept is prominent especially in the later strips, as some notable characters are added into Ken-chan's supporting cast. A Spin off of Osomatsu-kun (Or more aptly, the shorter "Akatsuka-kun Can Do Anything" that was later renamed "$-Chan and Chibita", a series with a somewhat similar premise.) starring the titular Chibita. Much like in Osomatsu, chibita's familial situation as well as other factors, such as setting can change in each self contained gag story. Iyami appears from time to time as well as other Akatsuka characters, such as "Mojamoja-ojichan", whom was the protagonist of his own comic, this time appearing here twice as a sort of father figure/mentor for chibita.
