In his second year of high school, Sakura Shinji is barely scraping by. One day, his pretty classmate Yuki Hanamori offers him a part-time job, to become a Soul Reaper for 300-yen per hour. His first job is to chat with his childhood friend Asatsuki to hear her troubles. "But what does that have to do with being a reaper?" Sakura asked. "Don't worry, you'll see," Yuki replied.

In Hathaway's Flash Hathaway Noa, still haunted by his past actions (not to mention the spirt of deceased Newtype Quess Paraya), joins a terrorist organization called Mafty and adopts the false name "Mafty Navue Erin". The organization Mafty is fighting a terrorist campaign against the Earth Federation government, and they are eventually able to acquire the incredibly powerful prototype Ξ Gundam, which Hathaway becomes the pilot of. Using the Ξ Gundam Mafty attempts to attack a meeting of high-ranking Federation cabinet members in Adelaide, Australia to force them to vote down a provision which would strengthen the Federations already considerable powers. As a point to note, this novel focuses on a version of events chronicled in creator Yoshiyuki Tomino's novelized form of Char's Counterattack, rather than his animated movie version, and as such, several discrepancies can be found between the animated work and this novel, making it more of a semi-canonical UC storyline, rather than 100% official canon. A new manga adaptation of the first TV series called Macross: The First has been released in Japan during 2009. It is a comic format alternate telling of the events in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross (with modern character and mecha designs) that is being serialized in the Shōnen Ace manga magazine. Mirai is a 13-year-old girl who lives in the human world. One day she witnesses a mysterious object fall from the sky into the park. Excitedly, she brings her stuffed bear Mofurun with her to see what it was. When she gets there she sees a girl named Riko flying on a broom. Riko is of the same age and from the magical world. Mirai has a lot of questions, and Riko explains that she's searching for a jewel with strong powers called "Link Stone Emerald." Then Batti, an ally of the dark magic users Dokurokushi, appears before them and demands that Riko hand over the "Link Stone Emerald," which Riko herself had been looking for. To make things worse, Batti uses dark magic to create a monster known as a Yokubaru! Mirai and Riko join hands and with the magic words "Cure-up Rapapa!" they transform into the legendary Pretty Cure. (Source: Anime News Network)
