Sato Yo is a high school boy, who likes SEGA's games. One day, he enters a grocery store to buy some food for dinner. When he tries to take a bento box, he loses consciousness. He comes around to find all the bento sold out. He notices there is a war game going on at grocery stores and players called "Wolves" compete for the half-priced bento. Yarizui Sen, the leader of Half-Pricer Club, forces Yo to join the club and he enters the bento war.

The journey of the two people, who are constantly swearing at each other, eventually gets caught up in a plot involving the nation... The era of rapid economic growth when the transcontinental railroads were completed, but the era of twilight when the illuminations from electricity were not yet born. Due to the nature of her father's job, Maruko Juri has been changing schools since her elementary years. Since she changes school way too often, she has never really made any memories with anyone except for two boys who she used to call by A-kun and B-kun. Somehow these two boys had left lasting impression in her memories. Particularly A-kun, the boy who made her heart skip beats, the same boy who promised to propose to her seven years into the future after it was decided that she would be leaving his side for the time being.
