A couple of curious aliens encounter a human space probe sent to investigate an asteroid. It appears to be from the Japanese Hayabusa asteroid probe, which returned samples to Earth during June 2010. The friendly space probe explains how it functions and what its goals are to the aliens.

After a collision between space ships, a small group of bizarre aliens find the sole human survivor: an infant girl. Doing the best they can, they raise her as their daughter on a remote planet, waiting for her people to come searching. This is a separate, earlier version of the more well-known "Space Family Carlvinson". The compilation volume also includes a short spin-off series "Go! Space Patrol".
