This is a love story between 23 year old grad student Asahina Motoko and her 64 year old professor Sakaki Ikuo. Motoko is a very mature and serious girl with poor social skills and is often called dark and gloomy by her classmates. However she finds Professor Sakaki to be kind and easy to talk to, despite his reputation as a strict and scary teacher. Although Professor Sakaki tells Motoko that her feelings for him are not love, something is developing between the two of them, and it might change them both into better people.

There's a new wheel-chair bound student at school who has returned after an illness, and she immediately kisses Tsuzuki Ui, who she calls "Rei-kun." He soon deduces that she is a daughter of a wealthy family, and a person he once beat at an internet murder mystery game. She is apparently fixated on him, since he was the only one who ever beat her, and she has now come to see him in person. Her plan is to have a real-life murder mystery game, and her current focus is on the supposed suicide of Tsuzuki's father. For some reason, she suspects his little sister Haruka... Then there are the two close friends, Ukita Sakuya and Nako Kairi, who creep into her house in search of a ghost, and end up deciding that Hare needs to join their team, due to her superior mystery-solving skills.
