Astekaizer follows the exploits of Hoshi, a professional wrestler who could transform into Astekaizer, a champion of justice. Released alongside a relatively obscure TV show with the same name in 1976. The show was a mix of live-action (Tokusatsu) and animation, created by Go Nagai.
The manga details the adventures of the Skull Force, a special forces team affiliated with WSO composed of several members including the Death Caprice Squad composed of Ken Kaido and Ryo Magami, a pair of pilots personally selected to pilot the Mazinkaizer SKL a powerful battle robot that many other pilots failed to control.
The protagonist is a woman journalist who watches the social changes & conflicts from the beginning of the Meiji era and the legacy of the Edo era. The compiled volume does not include the 7th story, Naniwa - Kanjo no "Koi" (34 pages). (mangaupdates.com)
