They told her that she must hold a clue to what they were looking for but she had no recollection of it. The men then told her a story that was far beyond her imagination. According to them, her father, a soldier, was not killed in battle but was caught up in a fight over the army's hidden gold bars and was tortured to death. Haruko was shaken by this shocking story, but it was the beginning of her battle against people who were operating behind the scenes in postwar Japan, aiming for the gold bars.
