It was near the end of the Showa period (1926-1989), before the "Gangster Law" was enacted, when yakuza were still able to make a living through violence. 18-year-old Taro Sato was leading an aimless life, with no dreams or goals, when he was recruited by chance to become the driver for a yakuza boss.
