In the Sengoku period, piracy was running rampant in the small villages, and the men there were forced to either join them, or to enlist in the military. Our protagonists, Haru and Sutemaru, are examples of the latter. This is a record of Japan's bloodiest era, told from the perspective of foot soldiers.
