England in the year 1533 was a time of uncertainty, with questions about right and wrong, the balance of power, and even life and death. There a boy dreamed of the future. Accompanying his father, an official in charge of the royal costumes, 12-year old William Cecil came to court for the first time, hoping to find a place in the royal household. At first, he was disappointed with the realities of royalty being so different from what he had dreamed of.
