Club president Chika Ogiue now has to manage a fresh-faced trio of yaoi fans (one of whom dabbles in cross-dressing), a surly American transfer student with a penchant for obscure anime quotes, and her own rising career as a professional manga artist. School festival season is here! With friends of Yajima and Yoshitake visiting, someone from Hato's past chooses just the moment to reappear. Amid the chaos, an essential turning point arrives for Madarame!

SAKI, I... Hato's past drove him to cross-dressing, Yajima's got a complex about her looks, and no matter what happens, no one seems to be able to tell what's going on in Yoshitake's head. Still, this newbie trio has finally made themselves at home in the Genshiken. Which makes it a perfect time for a visit by the old boys of the club, in town for the school festival! But when generations collide, Madarame ends up alone in the club room with Saki, with his back against the wall. Everyone expects him to confess his feelings, but what will come out of his mouth at this pivotal moment?

TAKE IT OFF Realizing he can no longer control his feelings towards Madarame, Hato decides to give up cross-dressing and BL, cold turkey! As the other Genshiken members watch over Hato with anxiety, Comic-Fest season rolls around again. And with Comic-Fest comes the appearance of Angela, throwing Madarame's world into even greater disarray! As everyone's feelings start to heat up, the unthinkable begins to seem possible...

This is the story of a group of friends who are all members of the most hardcore anime and manga club in Tokyo - and the boys and girls who love them. This sequel series to the original Genshiken introduces a wide range of female characters, updating the series to correspond to the ever- changing demographics of manga and anime fandom.

Inspired by Mei, Yamato has decided to pursue a career as a photographer. But no matter how much he practices, he can’t help but feel that something is missing. Mei notices that something’s been off with Yamato lately and goes to an unexpected source for help… Meanwhile, Rin has an exciting date with Kai at Land, while Len tries to make friends on his own. Having always been in his sister’s shadow, Len has his doubts, but it seems that he may have had a real friend all along.

As Madarame’s harem adventures continue with his escape from Keiko’s terrifying clutches, Hato and Yajima each throw themselves into creating their own original manga. But when Ogiue and Yoshitaka read it and share their thoughts, is Hato really ready for that much honest criticism? Later, the Genshiken plans a trip for Kuchiki’s rapidly-approaching graduation, and Madarame’s coming along! It’s time for a party ? at Yajima’s house…?

THE MAIN EVENT The Genshiken gang's send-off of Kuchiki continues! After partying hard, the boys-Kuchiki, Madarame, and even Hato-head back to the hotel room they're being forced to share, where Madarame has a chance to get lucky. Come the next day, it's time for a field trip to the great shrine at Nikko! The always-cunning Yoshitake has a grand plan to resolve the Madarame situation once and for all-but it might just be grandly awkward...

The grand plan to force Madarame to choose someone from his “harem” comes to its harrowing conclusion and his ultimate decision shocks the whole club. Upon returning to Tokyo, tensions linger even as graduation day approaches. It's up to the old guard to set things straight, but can Saki accomplish the impossible? Can she overpower Madarame's ironclad dedication to his own loneliness and get him to go on an actual date?

After what seemed like an eternity of indecision, Madarame finally reveals his solution to his harem problem, and it's not what anyone would have imagined. But just when his romantic ineptitude threatens to tear the Genshiken apart, an ancient enemy reappears with shocking news. Can Saki knock some sense into Madarame and save the club? And what will become of the hearts and hopes of Suzy, Keiko, and Hato? Whatever happens, by the time graduation arrives, the Society for the Appreciation of Modern Visual Culture--and its members--will never be the same.
