The setting is the Taisho era in the capital of Tokyo. Miya, who has come from the countryside, is approached by Suguru Amakura, the son of a newly established conglomerate, as she is in search of a place to work. Miya begins working as a servant for the Amakura family, but one day, out of curiosity, she reaches into a valuable book in the library. When Suguru, who is a member of the family, sees this, he reprimands her, saying, "You'll be fired."
