Jujutsu practitioner Kii-Ta-ryu Ryu Akisui left the regret of his defeat to his only son, Kankuro, when he challenged Kano Jigoro, the founder of Kodokan judo in Japan. Therefore, Akimizu and Kankuro start training intensively, day after day. The exhausting training continues until Kankuro be 19 years old. Later, following orders fromAkimizu, Kankuro leaves his home in Kokura, Kyushu, for Tokyo. The day he comes to Tokyo to visit Kihei Ryu's master, Matsushiba Kyuzo, corresponds to the day of celebrations of the victory of the Russo-Japanese War. It is a great historical drama that depicts the history of the family's four generations Yanagi, families Kantaro, Kanichi and Kanpei, over a period of more than 100 years, against the backdrop of the turbulence of the Meiji era and the Showa era. ------------------------- Juukyouden series: 1) [Juukyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=112750) 2) [Shouwa Juukyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=110020) 3) [Gendai Juukyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=110699) 4) [Otoko Yawakyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=124612) 5) [Nippon Juukyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=114814) 6) [Shin Juukyouden](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=50845)

This is the third installment in the series following "Showa Jukyouden" by Baron Yoshimoto, the author of the well-known "Jukyouden" series. The protagonist is Yanagi Kanichi, the third generation of the Yanagi family, and the son of Yanagi Kantaro (who, needless to say, is the protagonist of "Showa Jukyouden"). This first volume focuses on the young Kanichi, living cheerfully, brightly, and resilient through the tumultuous and chaotic postwar era. The "burnt-out black market" era immediately after the war is a story set a long time ago, but Baron's masterful storytelling delivers this thrilling work with accurate historical research and a brilliant story development. Because the work itself is long, this first volume focuses on the story of young Kanichi's brave survival during the burnt-out black market era, but the intense and moving after-reading experience will have you reaching for volume two. This is a monumental collection of gambling short stories, written by Baron Yoshimoto, known for "Jukyouden," who personally researched the world of gamblers. The protagonist of the first story, "Kurikara Monmon," Togashi Buntaro, is a young man who comes to Tokyo from a mountain village in the Tohoku region, relying on his late father's war comrades. Buntaro takes refuge in the home of Yamada Jinjiro, a member of the Yamajin family, a moneylender in Asakusa. The story takes place on the 17th of the first month in 1924, right in the middle of the Asakusa Sanja Matsuri festival. Buntaro's father was a matagi (hunter), and during the Pacific War, he returned to Japan after learning Shorinji Kempo from a Chinese monk while serving in Manchuria. His skills were said to be at a master level, and he passed them on to his only son, Buntaro. Buntaro, who understands the essence of Shorinji Kempo, never uses his physical strength even after joining a yakuza family, and gradually finds himself at odds with the Yamajin family, who lack the spirit of a gambler...
