Nakayama Itsuki, who grew up on a horse farm, prides himself on knowing everything about horses, and hates horse racing, where horses are treated like tools. One day, Ishii, who had fallen off a horse while jockeying one of the horses he raised on the farm and had his racing career cut short, visits him. Ishii, seeing itsuki's natural talent for handling horses, offers to enroll Itsuki in the jockey school where he teaches. Itsuki is reluctant, but he takes him to the racing school on the condition that he listens to the winner of the race, and he immediately begins racing. Itsuki was confident he could win, but he lost to a first-year student, and the frustration of that experience led him to enroll in the jockey school.
