An outside monster that lives in the human world, commonly known as "Ayakashi." Originally, they should not be incompatible with each other, but in "Sazameki Town", which is the stage of the story, it was possible for some reason to coexist. A slightly funny and bustling everyday comedy centered around Ryotaro Nakamura, a human youth who lives in a town full of monsters, and Shizuku Amamiya, a half-people and a half.

Zen Mikami, a Special Agent from the US, is assigned to rookie Seiichi Kiriyama from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. But he's surprised when he meets Kiriyama in a cell in the police's underground prison. Kiriyama, a criminal, uses his sharp intellect to solve cases in return for a reduced sentence. Though as they start working together, he's thrown off by Mikami's brusque, rule-breaking style.
