Yo Haguro, a recurring character of Leiji Matsumoto's mangas, works as a secretary onboard the luxury cruiser ship, "Revenge of Earth". On this ship, World War II is still happening, as people onboard still have issues with the conclusion of the original conflict. When Toshiro Oyama, a photographer and son of a WWII photographer, starts working on the ship after being contacted by Yo, he soon realizes that there's more than one unusal ship, when "Revenge of Earth" is being tracked down by the ghost battleship called Mahoroba.

SF manga created by Leiji Matsumoto in 1961. It is the first of his works where Space Battleship Yamato makes it's appearance.

In 3199, 1000 years after the events from the first anime series, all the people on the Earth are faced with crisis again. When mysterious presence calling herself Yo Haguro gathers together the descendants of the original Yamato crew, the legendary battleship is restored to protect all human beings from new villain - Darqueen.

The first published manga by Akira (Leiji) Matsumoto in 1954. He finished this work in november 1953 and sent it to drawing contest "Shinjin ō" , organized by the Manga Shounen magazine. Matsumoto was fifteen when he won this contest and began his mangaka career. In 2018, an Italian and French version has been printed, with the agreement of Matsumoto sensei. In 2021, the Italian version has been reprinted by the "Leiji Matsumoto Cultural Association". In Japan it was republished in 2014 in a collection of previously unpublished works 蜜蜂の冒険 松本零士 未発表・初期作品集.
