The story begins when Azuma Akari, a young man with an ambition to be a chef, trips into another world. Akari is picked up by Gangreve, the leader of a mercenary group. Akari joins the group as an odd job and gradually increases hia own value by demonstrating hia cooking skills. Each leader of the mercenary group is a quirky character, but Akari connects with them through his cooking. By improving the mercenary group's food situation and occasionally helping with inventions, Akari is gradually recognized by his fellow members of the mercenary group. However, Akari does not yet know that he himself will become a hero.
