Kyon is an ordinary freshman high school student who, self-admittedly, has given up his fantasies of espers, time travelers, and aliens as he left middle school. However, sitting behind him is the beautiful, intelligent, and eccentric girl Haruhi Suzumiya, who in her class introduction blatantly states her singular desire in meeting aliens, time travelers, sliders, or espers. Interested, Kyon starts trying to make small talk with her before class, eventually leading to normal conversations with Haruhi. One day, after making a comment about Haruhi's displeasure with the available school clubs, he finds himself dragged into membership of the newly formed Spreading Excitement All Over the World with the Haruhi Suzumiya (or SOS) Brigade. This is the first of two manga adaptations of the light novel series. Both manga adaptations were published in Shōnen Ace, but the earlier one (this one) was canceled after the first volume. This is a 4koma series about Churuya, a creation by Utsura Uraraka. The character seems to have derived from Tsuruya from the series Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu , as seen by the green hair and the usage of the word "megas."

Ore no Class ni Haruhi wa Inai follows Yuu, a guy familiar with Haruhi's famous line, "I'm not interested in ordinary people. But, if any of you are aliens, time-travelers, or espers, please come see me. That is all!" To Yuu, this statement is awful, and he thinks "If that's the case, what about the ordinary people?" He rejects the Haruhi-style abnormal daily life, the boy-meets-girl stories, the high-intensity characters of Haruhi - all of it. He considers having one-on-one conversations with someone new special enough. Yuu's friend Shirakawa, however, is convinced a Haruhi DOES exist in their class, and starts calling a truant female classmate "Haruhi," because she sits in the same spot as the character in the anime.
