A penniless student yearns to buy an expensive book that he can’t afford until a small ill-gotten fortune falls into his lap.

This tale is set at a small hot springs inn where a samurai is relaxing when he is asked to share his room. His new roommate appears to be none other than Musashi Miyamoto.

It is said that the bird will grow attached to its owners and never fly away. A simple rural encounter is charged with sexual tension that is alluring but also fraught with danger. When a young woman happens upon a wing-shot goose, she tries to calm it then suddenly snaps its neck. Later, she befriends a young hunter and offers him shelter, but her motivations remain unclear, especially when the hunter notices a snake in the room where they’ll both be sleeping.

"It is said that salamanders have no memory of the past because of the polluted water." This work follows a salamander waking up in a sewer with no recollection of the past, but out of place, as if they were reborn as a completely different creature. The salamander grows accustomed to their new habitat until one day when an incomprehensible object appears in the sewer.

A surreal, avant-garde two-colour printed manga work based on Yoshiharu Tsuge's experience traveling to Futomi in Chiba prefecture. It is especially famous among the works of Tsuge and had a great influence not only on the Japanese manga world but also on many other fields.
