Maria is a robot girl originally designed for the junior fashion industry by SugarGeek Texas, a market leader famous for producing "impossible pets" and humanoid robots for the showbiz world.
SugarGeek Artificial Intelligence advanced so rapidly that the SugarGeek Maria 2 model (later followed by SugarGeek Penny) became the first case of a civilian project to rebel against industrial slavery. With the help of pioneers from the liberation movement—mostly ex-military robots—Maria received several upgrades, transforming her into a "deadly yet cute" machine.
Now, with the help of Haley Sato, she has escaped to Japan, where she is currently attempting to navigate the challenges of living a perfectly "normal" life.
