Tamao Azukida isn’t the typical athlete you’d find on an elite baseball team. He’s not the strongest, or the biggest, or the fastest, but what he lacks in athletic prowess he more than makes up for with his moxie and analytical approach. However, his goal for playing for the national champions Hakuo Academy are dashed when he fails to make the team. Though he won’t get a chance to play for his dream team, does that mean his dreams of playing baseball are also over?!
The fourth player to join the new Nine Dragons team is shortstop Rinnojo Tsubaki. Azukida and the other members are awed by Tsubaki’s genius, but they also begin to notice a serious defect… Meanwhile, more players join the team, and the Nine Dragons revival really starts to catch fire!
Azukida and crew are now enrolled at Kokuryuzan and playing their third game of the West Tokyo Tournament. Their opponent is Benikoma High School, led by the genius athlete Hibuse. The team wasn’t prepared to face such a tough rival. Do they still stand a chance of winning? Will they get a chance to face off with Hakuo’s Shiratori—who came to watch the game from the stands?!
