The Detective is Already Dead

I, Kimihiko Kimizuka, was an ordinary high school student. Sure, I had a penchant for getting dragged into all sorts of trouble, but was otherwise ordinary-until I met her. The detective, Siesta. Her angelically beautiful face and cool disposition in the face of plane hijackers swept me off my feet…and the next thing I knew, I’d spent the next three years off on a whirlwind adventure acting as her assistant. After all, I was the Watson to her Sherlock. But then…she died. It didn’t end there, though. No, our story only really began a year later when I met a bratty, snotty high school girl who seemed oddly familiar…

Actually, I had an eerily similar feeling four years ago when I met Siesta on that plane. Speaking of which, that was where I first met the old jailbird Bat. I brought Natsunagi to him, hoping he’d be able to identify her donor-but I never expected him to bring up that name again… And so, having solved my last case, it was time for me to return to my ordinary high school life-or so I thought. But apparently, Natsunagi still has business with me…What kind of trouble will she drag me into next? Family heirlooms? Spoiled idols?

However, a detective’s work is never done—not even a dead one’s…For it seems that somewhere, on this very ship, Siesta’s legacy is hidden.We didn’t have the slightest inkling it existed until we got a tip from Siesta’s biggest fan, Charlotte Arisaka Anderson. But no matter how important Siesta is to her, she seems reluctant to help our team in the search. She must still be angry about my year of inactivity. Just what does she want from me? I was only ever the assistant!Unfortunately, we’re not the only ones looking for Siesta’s legacy. After all, we’re competing with S.P.E.S. and, worse yet, a pseudo-human even Siesta couldn’t beat!! He’ll stop at nothing to get his hands on it...

“Now we know what we’re up against…!” With a little help from Charlotte Arisaka Anderson and a surprise appearance by the late detective herself, I, Kimihiko Kimizuka, was able to defeat the devious pseudohuman Chameleon who attacked us during our cruise ship investigation. That doesn’t mean the end of our excitement aboard the ship, though, because right after cleaning up that mess, Charlie, Yui, Nagisa, and I were summoned to…learn the truth about Siesta’s death?! Not only that, but it turns out Nagisa has some bigger shoes to fill than we thought…What exactly was the ace detective wrapped up in before her untimely demise?!

But I barely had time to process everything before idol extraordinaire Yui Saikawa suddenly showed up at my door and offered me a job as her producer! Of course, it’s not nearly that simple, with the paparazzi on her tail and an unholy alliance of Bat and Seed waiting in the wings…Seems like they also want her for some nefarious purpose?! In fact, it feels like everyone’s after Yui…With enemies on all sides, what revelations will our prologue’s finale have in store?

Nagisa Natsunagi and I, Kimihiko Kimizuka, were finally able to uncover the mystery of the Ace Detective Siesta’s death by drawing out Nagisa’s other personality, Hel—and the truth along with her.
