Kise is a young girl in her 2nd year of secondary school who lives in a seaside town and no longer wants to go to school.

One day, as she tries to save a stranded whale with the help of a friend, she finds herself revealing her secret which links her to the mermaid Lorelei, whose singing can make you lose consciousness.
