Love at Fourteen

Middle schoolers Kanata Tanaka and Kazuki Yoshikawa are mature beyond their years, perfect model students admired from afar by classmates and teachers alike. But when school's out, these two childhood friends can let loose as average fourteen-year-olds, fresh in the throes of puberty, adolescence...and the persistent, bittersweet pangs of first love.

Amid the hormones and the angst of middle school adolescence, Kazuki and Kanata go from being boy and girl friends to boyfriend and girlfriend. But with love comes intense emotions and, with their model student reputations on the line, they must learn to suppress these earnest feelings or run the risk of getting caught red hand-in-handed!

The second year of junior high, when most students are in the throes of puberty and feeling the pangs of first love. It's no different for Kanata Tanaka and Kazuki Yoshikawa, a girl and a boy who have been friends since elementary school. But even though Kanata and Kazuki are at the same point in life as their classmates, an air of adulthood sets the two apart. Kanata is taller and more attractive than the other girls, but the boys stay away because she seems too mature for them. Kazuki too stands out from the other boys, but the girls are wary of him because he seems like a player. And so, Kanata and Kazuki are thrown together in a charming, bittersweet tale of two very adult students falling in love like the teenagers they are.

As the weather cools down--bringing with it a change of pace and uniforms--preparations for the upcoming sports festival begin to heat up. But when Kazuki is picked as an executive member of the festival committee, Kanata can't help feeling a little left behind. Will these two manage to keep up their mature smiles and endure this time apart?

On the heels of the sports festival comes the biggest middle school event yet--the class trip! But before Kazuki and Kanata can worry about keeping up appearances in Kyoto, they'll have to pass their exams. When Kazuki's math skills don't measure up to his--or Kanata's--model-student standards, though, the only person he can ask for help is...Shiki-san?!

As Class 2-B makes landfall in Kyoto, everyone's talking about who's going to confess to whom. This prompts Kanata to realize that despite their developing romance, Kazuki's never actually told her how he feels about her. There's love in the air, but for Kanata and Kazuki, will this momentous confession--if it ever comes-just be too little, too late?

Whether it's pondering blood types or investigating the seven wonders of the school for the class newspaper, Kanata and Kazuki manage to enjoy every day they spend with each other. But with decisions about their futures on the horizon, their mutual affection might not be enough to keep them together...

Kazuki and Kanata may be considered Class 2-B's mature students, but they're not the only ones getting tangled up in emotions and new relationships. Aoi quietly pines for Kanata, but her curiosity is piqued by the mystery surrounding the school nurse. The woman from the bus continues to fascinate Shota, and even class clown Kato surprises everyone when he manages to catch an unknown girl's attention...

Kanata and Kazuki may have everyone fooled with their convincingly mature act, but there’s no denying that they are still in middle school. Between the season’s first snow and a rogue fire alarm, many things can happen to perilous young love. When challenging situations get the best of them and emotions get messy, will it be possible to continue navigating the turning points of their lives together?

It’s Kazuki and Kanata’s first ever Valentine’s Day as a couple, though it’s hard to celebrate with the shadow of Kazuki’s departure looming over the festivities. To make matters worse, Kazuki suddenly suggests they take a break from their relationship! With the school year finally drawing to an end, the students of Class 2- b look toward what the future holds as the curtains close on their lives and love at fourteen.
