D no Maou: From Joker Game

Taking place in the year 1937 on the eve of World War II, the story involves a mysterious spy training organization known as the "D Agency." The organization is established by Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki from the Imperial Japanese Army. His ideals lead him to recruit people beyond military academy graduates and personnel, while training them to become skilled agents in arts of manipulation. These agents would become a specialized team to conduct operations. One such antihero agent, under the name Jirou Gamou, goes on a harrowing mission to uncover secret documents titled "Black Notes," while battling forces from within and without his own ranks.

With World War II right around the corner, intelligence on other countries' social and economic situation has become a valuable asset. As a result, Japan has established a new spy organization known as the "D Agency" to obtain this weapon. Under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki, eight agents have been assigned to infiltrate and observe some of the most powerful countries, reporting on any developments associated with the war. In order to carry out these dangerous tasks, these men have trained their bodies to survive in extreme conditions and studied numerous fields such as communications and languages. However, their greatest strength lies in their ability to manipulate people in order to obtain the information necessary to give their nation the upper hand.

In the autumn of 1937, as the coals of World War II are beginning to smolder, Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki of the Imperial Army secretly establishes a spy training organization called the “D Agency.” Those chosen as members of the agency, in opposition to the national trend toward reverence for native-born soldiers in the army, are civilian university graduates who pass the superhuman selection test with flying colors. Under the resourceful Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki, they learn not only how to work with gunpowder, wireless communications, vehicles, and airplanes, but also various skills essential for spies, from pickpocketing to safecracking. “Don’t die. Don’t kill.” Suicide and murder are the worst possible options in the D Agency, which values a low profile above all else. Even as its agents bear under extreme opposition from the army’s control center, they continue to betray allies, deceive foes, and conduct secret maneuvers all over the world. Tokyo, Shanghai, London. Their military intelligence reaches every last corner of the globe.

D Agency casts a wide net to find agents beyond Japanese military personnel, and Yuuki establishes D Agency's tenets, which go against IJA doctrine: "Don't kill, don't get killed, don't get captured". With this, Yuuki trains a team of operatives who conduct missions against domestic and foreign powers.
