In *Muv-Luv Alternative*, Takeru wakes up three years after the end of *Muv-Luv Unlimited* to find himself back in his room. Although he first thinks that everything that had happened to him was a dream, he soon feels that something is wrong, and leaves the house to find that he has been sent back in time to the beginning of the events in *Unlimited*. A short story, set some time in Total Eclipse during the events of Blue Flag, about the appearance of a "ghost F-4" in the TSF simulators, a spectral manifestation said to be undetectable and unbeatable. In 2001, reports are coming in from pilots regarding an undefeatable F-4 Phantom present in the simulator database that will forcibly insert itself into any active simulation, and defeat all human pilots present. Despite the simulators being locked down, Yuuya Bridges, initially being there just to check things out after having his interest piqued by Vincent Lowell, now has to team up with another pilot on the site, Lieutenant May, to get to the bottom of this phantom menace.
Takamura Yui's past during her days as a cadet for the Imperial Guard training school. Expanding upon the first two episodes of the anime, it covers issues such as her interaction with her friends and allies, to her first battle against the BETA and the for reason to her attachment to the Type-94C.
In Kyushu, there lies the small village of Sunomura. In that small village, four childhood friends, Touma Takumi, Ogami Ritsuko, Amamiya Kanon, and Takanashi Mio comprise a small music club at the village school. One day, Takumi happens to see and hear the violin performance of Orihara Ai, a girl who recently moved to the village and transferred into the school. This performance later eventually causes Ritsuko to resolve to recruit Ai into their music club no matter what. However, one day, one of the childhood friends is separated from the other three, but before doing so passes on her role of "Supervisor" to Takumi. Later, they learn that the school they all attend is going to be closed down in one month due to a government-ordered evacuation of the village. Everyone resolves to make their last month together as memorable and enjoyable as possible before the school closes down... Adaptation of the popular visual novel, Owarinaki Natsu, Towa Naru Shirabe. The story focuses on Mio in these light novels.
