Office supply worker Ooba Kanako's boring life is completely changed When she accepts a job as a getaway driver for a couple who rob the Yakuza. Her final moments upon her, she is bought at the last moment. Her buyer, the owner of a diner that caters to killers and murderers warns her that she is the ninth waitress to work at "Canteen", while her eight predecessors have all met unfortunate ends by the moody customers. Will Kanako be the last waitress to work at "Canteen"? or will she be fired from her second chance at life? only time will tell.

The story is set during the middle of Japan's historic Edo period. It centers around Toriyama Sekiei, an eccentric but brilliant artist who only draws supernatural creatures — because he actually draws the creatures he encounters in his life.
