An extremely short serialization from WSJ that never received a tankoban (or equivalent physical) release
In 1815, Edmond Dantès, serving as first mate on the merchant ship Pharaon, is entrusted with a package by the seriously ill Captain Leclerc to deliver to the former Emperor Napoleon, who is exiled to the island of Elba. Dantès travels to Elba and receives a letter from Napoleon. After completing the voyage, Dantès is ordered by the ship's owner, Morel, to take over for the deceased Captain Leclerc. However, the accountant, Danglars, who is jealous of Dantès, persuades Fernand, who has a crush on Mercedes, to inform the authorities that Dantès has been in contact with Napoleon. Dantès is arrested on the night of his engagement to Mercedes. When the prosecutor, Villefort, learns that Napoleon's letter was addressed to his father, Noirtier, he burns the letter and imprisons Dantès. A complete comic adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo! (from amazon japan)
