In Shanghai in the late 1920s, the son of a poor cook, is attracted to a beautiful woman in a brothel across the street. "How could such a beautiful woman be in a brothel?" He goes to the brothel to check it out and finds the beautiful woman who is being played by the king of the casino, Sir Stephen. He tries to make money to buy her by blending in with the revolutionary "Red Guards," but what fate awaits him after his wish is fulfilled is totally different.... This story was serialized in the Tokyo Sports Newspaper to promote the film "Shanghai Ijin Shoukan - China Doll," directed by Shuji Terayama.
