The story is set in the 15th century, during the Hundred Years' War between France and England over the succession to the French throne. Montmorency, the son of a noble, immerses himself in the studies of magic and alchemy at a royal knight training school. However, following France's crushing defeat at Agincourt, the school is dissolved. Having lost everything and now a wanted man, Montmorency, who had just become an alchemist, encounters a mysterious village girl named Jehanne.

However, a bunch of supernatural monsters are out to stop them from achieving their goal. Volumes 2-4: Catholic schoolgirl Inaho discovers that a vampire, Mosquiton, is feeding off of her classmates. So she stakes him, but he is revived after her blood comes in contact with the his remains. Mosquiton becomes her slave and also a history teacher. Together, along with Yuuki and Honou, the unlikely duo have many escapades and adventures. One of Inaho's main goals is to find the mythical O-Part to make some money!

Non-material entities called "sabers" take possession of a body when in order to protect our world by killing "frame users" that come from another dimension. When a saber takes control over a body the host looses consciousness. Strangely enough Kaon doesn't loose her consciousness when her saber takes control. How will she react to when facing other the monsters that threaten her life?
Shirahoshi Saya is childhood friends with a gyaru, Momose Meika (or simply Mei). Mei is bubbly and energetic, as opposed to Saya, who is calm and collected most of the time. These two friends go out after school to eat crepes one day.
Hazuki Kagimura is a normal girl who is usually alone. Her relationship with her new family is not going so well, so she retreats every day to the world of stories and books. One day, after school, one of the library's bookshelves sends her to another world with a magic school, where she meets Shizuka Tsuchimikado. She finds out that girls (called "mädchen") who attend the school are selected by old fairy tales and folk stories to wield their magic, and are taught how to wield it in the school. The school has girls who are chosen by such stories as Kaguya-hime no Monogatari, Issun-bōshi, Der Freischütz, Shuten-dōji, The Little Matchstick Girl, The Gigantic Turnip, Arthurian legends, and The Ramayana.
