A classic comedy mahjong manga about Toyotomi, a very unlucky mahjong player, and his three "friends", who will take advantage of him and try to ruin him whenever they can.
Furaton is a college student who is always trying to squeeze every penny from his adversaries, but ends up only getting beaten up or hated. One day, on his usual visit to a mahjong parlor, he meets Saruta Tooru, who he thinks of as being weak, so he tries to make him his next victim, only to get beaten up again. Furaton is found unconscious on the parlor's bathroom by a professional player named Tsumokura Tesu, who brings the owner, Amatori Chana, to help. After that, Furaton tries to squeeze some money out of Tesu, but loses tremendously to his "High Tide" style of play. Tesu tells Furaton that he lost because he looks down on others, and that the only way he'd be able to win was by playing with no rates. Furaton then decides to take the JMP exam to beat Tesu on the professional level.
